Litha is the European name given to the astronomical event of the Summer Solstice. The Summer Solstice is the festival when the Sun reaches its peak hours in the sky, also known as the longest day. The exact date of the Summer Solstice fluctuates every year between 20th and 23rd of December. For New Zealand in 2021 it is Monday the 21st of December.
